| What |
| The
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is designed to assess the verbal, quantitative
and writing level of applicants for graduate study in Business or Management.
The test is open to both native and non-native speakers of English, and presupposes
no specific knowledge of Business or related topics. The GMAT contains
three main sections: Analytical Writing Assessment (60 mins)
Measures the
candidate's ability to think critically and communicate competently in written
English. 2 parts:
Analysis of an Issue, and Analysis of an Argument.
Candidates have to respond in writing to the computer-selected issues and arguments.
Quantitative Section (75 mins)
Measures the candidate's basic mathematical skills, his/her ability to reason
quantitatively and to interpret graphic data.
37 multiple-choice questions: Data Sufficiency/Problem Solving Verbal
Section Measures
the candidate's ability to understand and recognize basic conventions of standard
English. 41 multiple-choice
questions: Reading Comprehension/Critical Reasoning/Sentence Correction
There are no Pass/Fail scores. Unofficial scores for the Verbal and Quantitative
multiple-choice sections are available straight after the test. Official score
reports, which include the Analytical Writing Assessment score, are sent to candidates
and designated educational institutions 2 weeks after the test. The Verbal
and Quantitative scores range from 0-60; total scores range from 200-800. Analytical
writing scores range from 0-6. |

GMAT scores help predict a candidate's academic performance in the first year
of Graduate Management school.
Of the several thousand Graduate Management programs worldwide, almost 1700 use
the GMAT as a means of assessing applicants. |

|
The GMAT is sponsored and directed by the Graduate Management Admission Council
(GMAC), an international organization of 138 Graduate Schools of Management.
The GMAT was
developed in the USA by Educational Testing Service®. |
| When |
| Year
round. NB. Candidates cannot take the GMAT test more than once in any
calendar month, and cannot take the test more than 5 times. |
| Where |
| The
GMAT is available at official GMAT testing centers throughout the world. |
| How |
|
Prospective candidates should register at least 6 weeks prior to their anticipated
test date. A registration fee is payable on registration.
