GMAT®

What
The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is designed to assess the verbal, quantitative and writing level of applicants for graduate study in Business or Management. The test is open to both native and non-native speakers of English, and presupposes no specific knowledge of Business or related topics.

The GMAT contains three main sections:

Analytical Writing Assessment (60 mins)
Measures the candidate's ability to think critically and communicate competently in written English.
2 parts: Analysis of an Issue, and Analysis of an Argument.
Candidates have to respond in writing to the computer-selected issues and arguments.

Quantitative Section (75 mins)

Measures the candidate's basic mathematical skills, his/her ability to reason quantitatively and to interpret graphic data.
37 multiple-choice questions: Data Sufficiency/Problem Solving

Verbal Section
Measures the candidate's ability to understand and recognize basic conventions of standard English.
41 multiple-choice questions: Reading Comprehension/Critical Reasoning/Sentence Correction

There are no Pass/Fail scores. Unofficial scores for the Verbal and Quantitative multiple-choice sections are available straight after the test. Official score reports, which include the Analytical Writing Assessment score, are sent to candidates and designated educational institutions 2 weeks after the test.

The Verbal and Quantitative scores range from 0-60; total scores range from 200-800. Analytical writing scores range from 0-6.
