3. Contracts with AISLI-affiliated schools are often open-ended.
4. The British Schools chain has over 70 schools in Italy. Saxon
Court/English Worldwide recruits from the UK for these schools.
5. The British Council has teaching centres in Rome, Bologna, Milan and
Naples, and can provide information on teaching English in Italy, as well
as contact details for certain private language schools.
6. Most Italian towns have an English Club (Associazione Italo-Britannico)
which sometimes recruits native-speaking English teachers for Conversation
classes, and which can be a great source of private students.
7. Some of the more respectable language schools offer significant perks
to their teachers. These include: subsidized housing, luncheon vouchers,
free Italian lessons and a '13th month' salary bonus.
8. The Italian Yellow Pages - Pagine Gialli - contains contact
details for most private English language schools.
9. The association TESOL Italy provides information, tips and useful links
for ESL/EFL teachers in Italy.
10. The Center for American Studies (Centro Studi Americani) in
Rome is a meeting point for many North Americans in Italy; it contains
an excellent English language resource centre.
11. The US Embassy has 5 affiliated teaching programs in Italy, one of
which is at the Center for American Studies in Rome. (The other four programs
are in Bologna, Naples, Florence and Trieste).
12. Global Volunteers have a number of volunteer-teaching placements each
year in Italy.
